What is LSA?
LSA is YOUR organisation! It is a non-profit association of students dedicated to the study and promotion of law and the enhancement of legal education at the American University in Cairo, Department of Law. The LSA seeks to promote a greater understanding of how law interacts with politics, culture, and society, to foster and encourage good scholarship, professional competence and social responsibility.
What does LSA do?
LSA was created in 2006 and started operating regular meetings and activities in Spring 2007 with the goal of creating an extracurricular environment for social and intellectual exchange concerning topical legal issues. The LSA sponsors discussions, debates, seminars and other activities.
LSA provides a valuable link between students, faculty, and alumni and works to facilitate an open forum to address student and faculty concerns. As students have the opportunity to address their concerns at a semester meeting with faculty.
Why should I participate in LSA and its activities?
LSA provides students with many perspectives outside of the academic context as students engage in interdisciplinary events and discussions. LSA also addresses current issues in the world that are of interest to students and the legal community in general. In addition, LSA presents an excellent social environment to meet and engage with students from different faculties and backgrounds.
What kind of events does LSA host?
LSA organizes a host of events for students and faculty alike. These events include welcome/farewell events, movie nights, regular lectures and seminars, as well as an annual student/faculty meeting for the exchange of thoughts and ideas between students and faculty (just to name a few!).
